  YEMIN
MOSHE
The original neighborhood of Mishkenot Shaananim
only used about 1/3 of the land purchased by Montefiore. The remaining land was empty. In
time, squatters took up residence, turning the area into a shanty town. Montefiore's heirs
decided to build a proper neighborhood there. Yemin Moshe became Jerusalem's twenty-fourth
neighborhood.
